General Notices
- Due to TUSLA (Child and family agency) requirements, it’s important that all parent’s send in a note explaining absences (as provided for in homework diary) even though you might have phoned the school with an explanation. Try to avoid taking your children on holidays for long spells during school time as this will take them over the 20 days in absences which by law has to be reported to TUSLA.
- 2. All parents/visitors to the school must report to the office on entering and leaving the school to adhere to child protection regulations and must not proceed to the classroom directly for any reason. We ask you to comply with this for the safety of all children in our care.
- I ask parent’s not to drive into the school grounds at the start or end of the school day due to health and safety reasons and not to park in the area allocated for the school buses.
- School opens at 9.10 and closes at 2.50 and the school does not accept responsibility for pupils outside of these times except on school business.
This is the calendar for 2017-18 as currently planned but may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

RSA safety check
The RSA’s Check it Fits service will be visiting County Monaghan on Tuesday 28th February and Wednesday 1st march 2017 and will be at the following locations;
| Location | Street Name | Town | Date | Time |
| Supervalu | Church Square | Monaghan | Tuesday 28 February 2017 | 10.00am – 5.30pm |
| Toyota | Marron’s Garage Ltd | Castleblayney | Wednesday 1 March 2017 | 10.00am – 5.30pm |
The law states that all children under 150cms or 36kgs must use a child car seat appropriate to their weight and height. Since October 2013, the RSA’s ‘Check it Fits’ Service has checked over 21,000 child car seats and restraints in Ireland. Of those seats checked, 79% required a major adjustment, of which 3% were deemed not fit for purpose and condemned, meaning they could have caused injury or even death in the event of a collision.
The Check it Fits service is quick, it’s easy, it’s free. On the day experts will advise on how to fix any problem, demonstrate how to fit the restraint correctly and answer any queries participants might have. The experts aim to put parent’s, grandparent’s and guardian’s minds at ease that their child’s car seat is safely and securely fitted in their car.
If you have any questions or require more information on the service visit www.rsa.ie/checkitfits. They look forward to seeing you in Monaghan.
Please pass this information on to any friends, family members or any other relevant contacts that use child seats, to inform them of the upcoming visit to County Monaghan.
Don’t let your child be a statistic. Get your child car seat checked.
